Editorial policy
Open Kitchen Journal aims to make kitchen subjects clear, useful and honest about what is known. We distinguish explanation from opinion and correct the record when we get something wrong.
Accuracy and clarity
We check factual claims against suitable material before publication and write so readers can follow the reasoning. We avoid unsupported certainty, make the limits of a piece clear and do not present general information as a substitute for specialist advice where that is needed.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for readers, not as a condition of a partnership. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage, a favourable view or control over our editorial conclusions.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error or a meaningful omission, contact us with the article title and the detail in question. We assess correction requests and amend published work when warranted, making significant changes clear to readers.
Partnerships and illustrations
Paid, gifted or otherwise partner-supported material is identified clearly where it appears; partner links and placements are labelled so readers can distinguish them from editorial recommendations. Some illustrations may be generated with AI. Where that applies, we identify the illustration accordingly and do not use it as evidence of a real kitchen, object or event.
